Your daily horoscope: December 30, 2024

HOROSCOPE IF TODAY IS YOUR BIRTHDAY You don’t need to make any big resolutions on your birthday. With a new moon to inspire you the right opportunities will arrive at just the right time and you will know without a shadow of a doubt what must be done – and you will do it magnificently! ARIES (March 21 - April 20): If you make yourself useful to someone in a position of authority now they will find ways to repay you early in the new year. That may sound a bit mercenary but in this dog eat dog world who you know is as important as what you know. TAURUS (April 21 - May 21): If you want to do something out of the ordinary today, something you know is likely to shock friends and family members, then go for it 100 per cent. Israeli Air Strikes on Rafah Raise Fear of Ground Assault

Israel’s recent air strikes on Rafah have intensified concerns among the more than a million people seeking refuge in this southern Gaza Strip enclave. The bombings targeted at least three homes overnight, leaving residents fearing an imminent ground assault. Tragically, one of the airstrikes claimed the lives of 11 family members.

Mussa Dhaheer, who witnessed the destruction firsthand, described the heart-wrenching scene: “I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what to say. I can’t make sense of what happened. My parents. My father with his displaced friends who came from Gaza City. They were all together, when suddenly they were all gone like dust” .

Jamil Abu Houri, another resident, expressed concern about Israel’s disregard for a U.N. Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire. He fears that a ground assault on Rafah is imminent, despite pleas from Washington to avoid further harm to civilians. “Where is the Security Council?” Abu Houri asked. "Look at our little ones. Look at our children. Where should we go?".

In the occupied West Bank, where violence has escalated alongside the Gaza conflict, three Palestinians lost their lives during an Israeli raid in Jenin. The toll of casualties continues to rise, with thousands of lives affected by the ongoing war. Hospitals in Gaza, including Al-Amal, Nasser, and Al Shifa, are strained, and civilians and medics face immense challenges.

As the world watches, the situation remains dire. Families mourn their loved ones, and the international community grapples with how to address the escalating violence. The haunting image of Inas Abu Maamar cradling her 5-year-old niece’s lifeless body serves as a stark reminder of the human cost of conflict. We must continue to seek peace and advocate for the safety and well-being of civilians caught in the crossfire.
