U.S. Officials Say Iran’s New Supreme Leader Gravely Wounded Amid Escalating Conflict

Protesters hold posters of Iran's late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his son, Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, during a protest marking al-Quds Day (Jerusalem Day), after Friday prayers at Fatih Mosque in Istanbul. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has confirmed that Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei , was seriously wounded and likely disfigured during the opening phase of U.S. and Israeli military strikes. Speaking at a Pentagon briefing, Hegseth described Iran’s leadership as “desperate and hiding,” asserting that Khamenei has gone underground following injuries sustained in the attacks.  Reports from multiple outlets indicate that Khamenei has not appeared publicly since the conflict began, fueling speculation about the severity of his condition. Roasted Asparagus

Whip up roasted asparagus in minutes—this simple recipe for tender, crisp spears with golden, caramelized tips is perfect every time.

Ingredients:

  • Thick Asparagus Spears: Choose thick stalks to avoid overcooking; thin ones can become limp.
  • Olive Oil: For drizzling over the asparagus.
  • Salt and Pepper: To season.
  • Optional: Lemon Zest or Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese for extra flavor.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and set an oven rack in the middle position.
  2. Trim the tough ends off the asparagus. Bend one spear until it naturally snaps where it starts to get woody.
  3. Dry the asparagus thoroughly to prevent steaming during roasting.
  4. Line a baking sheet with heavy-duty aluminum foil.
  5. Spread the asparagus in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and shake the pan to coat the asparagus evenly.
  7. Roast until crisp-tender, about 6 to 8 minutes, depending on the thickness of the asparagus.
  8. Transfer to a platter and serve.

Enjoy this delightful roasted asparagus alongside your favorite main course!
