Trump Proposes Closing Department of Education via Executive Action

In a bold move, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced his intention to dismantle the Department of Education through executive action. Trump, who has long criticized the federal government's role in education, believes that states should have more control over their schools. During a press conference in the Oval Office, Trump stated, "We spend more per pupil than any other country in the world, and we’re ranked at the bottom of the list. Canada Post Strike Continues with No End in Sight

Canada Post has announced that the ongoing strike involving over 55,000 workers shows no signs of ending soon. Despite presenting a new proposal aimed at addressing key issues such as wages, job protections, and weekend deliveries, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has rejected the offer, calling it insufficient.

The strike, which began on November 14, 2024, has now entered its fourth week, causing significant disruptions during the busy holiday season. Both sides remain far apart on several critical issues, including the expansion of weekend deliveries and the balance between part-time and full-time positions.

As frustrations mount among Canadians and businesses affected by the delays, calls for government intervention have increased. However, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has reiterated that the best solution lies at the bargaining table, urging both parties to work towards a resolution.

The impact of the strike is being felt nationwide, with many small businesses reporting significant losses due to delayed shipments and refunds. The situation remains fluid, and both Canada Post and CUPW continue to engage in negotiations, albeit with little progress so far.

For now, Canadians are left waiting and hoping for a swift resolution to this protracted dispute.
