Syria's Deadliest Days: Over 1,000 Killed in Clashes and Revenge Killings

In a tragic escalation of violence, over 1,000 people have lost their lives in Syria during two days of intense clashes and revenge killings. The conflict erupted between Syrian security forces and loyalists of ousted President Bashar al-Assad, with sectarian violence targeting the Alawite community, a key support base of the former regime. Canada Responds to U.S. Tariffs with Support for Workers and Businesses

The Canadian government has announced a comprehensive aid package to counter the economic impact of U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs. The measures include over $6 billion in funding to support businesses and workers affected by the trade war.

Key initiatives include expanded access to the Employment Insurance (EI) Work-Sharing Program, which allows employees to work reduced hours while receiving partial EI benefits. Additionally, $5 billion will be allocated over two years to help businesses find new export markets, with another $1.5 billion in loans and financing for various sectors, including agriculture.

This response comes as the U.S. temporarily pauses some tariffs, offering a brief reprieve. However, Canadian officials remain vigilant, emphasizing the need for long-term strategies to protect the economy and jobs.
